1827 - 1982

Legacy of the Pennsylvania Main Line Canal, the Biddle Iron Furnace (AKA Rock Furnace), the coal mines that dotted the hillside, and the scars left behind.

1995

RRWA purchased 4 acres at the Roaring Run Trailhead to create the lower parking area.

1996

Brand new pavilion. A lot has changed since.

2000

Scrubgrass and Truxal Mine Remediation Project started to reduce acid mine discharge into the Kiski River.

2004

RRWA purchases 285-acre Kiski River Corridor to extend the trail 1.5 miles to Edmon.

2006

Girl Scout Troop 95 dedicates a memorial to American soldiers.

2007

The new suspension bridge spans Roaring Run Creek.
RRWA completes Phase IV through the Kiski River corridor, building the 1.5-mile section to the Flat Rock Run waterfall.

2009

The Roaring Run Trail was extended one mile to the village of Edmon. The project included the construction of the 15-car Edmon parking lot at the Edmon trailhead.

2010

The new boat ramp . . . then later with the new gate installed.

2011 - 2012

Completed the Kiski River Trail from the old railroad bridge to North Third Street.

2016

Completed the maintenance shed.

2017

Cody Endress from Troop 589 in Spring Church and team working on Cody's impressive Eagle Scout project: building the wishing well around a well dug somewhere in the 1800's.

2021

Replacing the old railroad bridge spanning Roaring Run Creek with a beautiful new structure. 

2022

2024

Grading and resurfacing the Roaring Run Trail from the Roaring Run bridge to the Edmon switchback.
Closing the original Rock Furnace trailhead parking lot and building a new 32-vehicle parking lot. 
2025
The new kiosk at Rock Furnace Trail is complete! This was an Eagle Scout Project by Trevor Wheatley, Troop 589, October 2025. Donations received of $500.00 each from Elderton Bank and Rose Bud Mine.
