April 25-26 2026 Cannons were firing during the 4th US Artillery spring muster weekend. The weekend was packed with safety drills and demonstrations.
April 23, 2026 The RRWA was so excited to host the Second and Third Grade students from Apollo Ridge today for their Trout in the Classroom Fingerling release!! The kids raised these trout from eggs and learned about our watershed and conservation efforts. This year long program teaches them about ecosystems, habitats, natural resources, and management strategies to protect and enhance cold water resources.
​The Kiski Watershed Association stocked trout on April 17. Thank you to our members, Laurel Trout and the community volunteers who came out to help! We stopped at various locations along the river and stocked about 500 trout
April 17, 2026  Thank you to the Kiski Key Club for their annual Youth Day of Caring! They helped get the trail ready for mowing season. We had a great group of hard workers supervised by our RRWA members.
March 24, 2026 Special thanks to long-time RRWA supporter Rae-Lyn Enterprises for their kind donation of  new trail signage.
March 11, 2026 The old Salina bridge demolation is complete on the Kiski River. Paddlers have full access to the river. No portage is required. Work continues on the river banks.

November 15-16 2025 The 2025 Roaring Run Enduro Race sponsored by Roaring Run Rock Riders was a huge success. 60 to 70 participated in the pre-race activities Saturday. 65 participants were registered for Sunday's race. Congratulations to all participants!
November 2025 The new kiosk at Rock Furnace Trail is complete! This was an Eagle Scout Project by Trevor Wheatley, Troop 589,October 2025. Donations received of $500.00 each from Elderton Bank and Rose Bud Mine. The RRWA and trail would like to express our gratitude to Trevor, his parents, and troop 589! A huge thank you to the donors!! Come check out this amazing project!
September 30, 2025 In memory of Colton Bureau, who died after suffering a medical emergency and fell into the Kiskiminetas River,  donated by Apollo-Ridge Viking Football 2025 and Roaring Run Watershed Association. His favorite fishing spot on Kiski just below the RRWA parking lot.

7/19/2025 What a great evening! Over 200 runners and walkers participated in our annual “Race to the Moon” night run/walk event. Our race concluded with an awards ceremony, featuring trophies, prizes, watermelon, and pizza. A huge shout out to our runners, walkers, and volunteers!
6/21/2025 The Kiski Watershed Association and RRWA joined forces for a dumpsite cleanup this morning. A huge thanks goes out to all of the volunteers who showed up to help! It was a hot, muddy mess but everyone worked so hard! A special thank you to our Kiski Area Keyclub kids who killed it today! We loved having you!

6/19/2025 All this rain has brought down some huge trees on Rock Furnace Trail, but yet again are volunteers are there to fix it!! Thanks again guys!!

5/15/2025  RRWA and Trevor Wheatly will be constructing a new kiosk at Rock Furnace Trail entrance. Trevor is working toward his rank of Eagle Scout and will be doing most of this work himself. In order to help with the cost of construction material RRWA is offering only two plaque spaces for $500.00 each. If interested please contact RRWA president Ken Kaminski # 724-681-6317

9/10/2024: Reclaiming land decimated by mine discharge at the "Burgundy Discharge" site: volunteers lay down lime, fertilizer, and grass seed, before covering it all with tons of mushroom manure.


9/3/2024: Work continues on the new section of the Rock Furnace Trail, planting grass and laying down several rolls of straw to help fight soil erosion. 
8/27/24: Generous corporate donations helped complete the new Rock Furnace Trail parking lot. Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage not only donated $5,000, but an additional check for $12,000 as well. CNX donated $10,000. and People's Gas gave $3,500. We want to send a special thank you to our corporate partners!
7/25/24: The Rock Furnace Trail and new Rock Furnace parking lot in Kiski Township are now open!
7/20/2024: 200 participants registered for RRWA’s annual Race to the Moon 5K Run/Walk night race on July 20th, making this our largest race ever!

Work is continuing on the new Rock Furnace parking lot addition in Kiski Township
RRWA sends a huge thank you to Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage and these gentlemen!!! These men planted trees along the trail today with laying down mulch and making sure they got plenty of water! There were six RedBuds and one Dogwood
